Suggested event outline for a traditional commemoration

  1.  Begin by lowering flags to half-mastlast-post
  2. Introduction (2 mins)
  3. Reading of hymn, prayer or poem (2-5 mins)
  4. Speech (3 mins)
  5. Laying of wreath or poppies (3 mins)
  6. ‘The Ode’ (1 min)
  7. The Last Post (1 min)
  8. One minute silence (1 min)
  9. The Rouse or the Reveille is played while flags are raised slowly to the masthead (20 secs)
  10. National Anthem (1 min)
