WWI Stories – Percival Alexander Dalgarno

Heidelberg

Marie Watt shares the story of her grandfather, Percival Alexander Dalgarno.

When Percival enlisted to serve in World War One, he was already a seasoned soldier at 30 years of age.Marie believes her grandfather had served in the Boer Wars, and following World War One, went on to serve Australia in World War Two.

Percival embarked from Australian shores on 21 October 1914, on board the HMAT Orvieto. He was a private in the 5th Infantry Battalion, service rank 18.

He passed away in 1965 in Heidelberg, Victoria.
